The Road to Righteousness

THE Road to Righteousness is a guide to conduct a person through their path of conversion. First, it will show us where to begin on your road to freedom. Second, it will provide exercises and teachings which will help us to become mature Christians.

The path follows the age-old way taught by the Gospel: Repentance, Baptism, and Obedience to God’s will.  I found the Road to Righteousness after a heartfelt prayer to God, where I asked Him to teach me how to obtain with His help: purity, freedom, fulfillment, and how to keep a state of union with the Trinity.

Below are the bible quotes, which are the basis for each lesson of the Road to Righteousness. You can find more detailed information in the Blog posts. I have listed each lesson name as a tag, i.e., “Knowledge of God” within the blog post to help clarify for which lesson they apply.

Beginning your Road to Righteousness

Knowledge of God

NRSV Wisdom 15:10-12

10 Their heart is ashes, their hope is cheaper than dirt,
and their lives are of less worth than clay,
11 because they failed to know the one who formed them
and inspired them with active souls
and breathed a living spirit into them.
12 But they considered our existence an idle game,
and life a festival held for profit,
for they say one must get money however one can, even by base means.

Receiving the Holy Spirit

NRSV Genesis 2:7

then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being.

God’s Plan for Your Life

NRSV Jeremiah 1:5

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Consecrating Your Life

NRSV 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

The Christian Life & Its Duties

A Living Sacrifice

NRSV Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Many Parts in one Body

NRSV Romans 12:3-8

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.

Mutual Love

NRSV Romans 12:9-21

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; 10 love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. 18 If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Walking the Road to Righteousness

Please be aware that the Road to Righteousness is non-linear by nature. You may find later on that you may need to revisit part of it to develop a specific area further.  Also, part of the process of conversion is that you will begin to open yourself to the influence and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. As a consequence, the Holy Spirit will start to guide you directly in those areas that are specific to your particular state and nature.  God‘s guidance will then unfold your Road to Righteousness.

I am sure that just as I have, by applying these teachings, you will begin to see a profound transformation in your heart and all areas of your life. All you need is a sincere desire for true freedom and fulfillment.  The Holy Spirit will then help and guide you to all Truth.  I can testify that finding the Road to Righteousness has been one of the greatest graces the Lord has bestowed upon me.

I pray that the Lord may provide you with even greater blessings than what I have already seen in my life.
