THE Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin is a traditional Catholic chaplet. This chaplet is a devotional prayer that honors the 12 stars (virtues) of the crown of the Virgin Mary portrayed in the book of Revelation 12:1. The essential prayer, in its shortest form, consists of 3 sets of 1 Our Father, 4 Hail Mary, 1 Glory Be.
St. Louis Marie de Montfort, the apostle of the rosary, gave it as a daily morning prayer to his religious groups. For which he added introductory and closing prayers. He also listed the chief virtues of the Virgin for each Hail Mary, followed by a salutation to Mary.
Following is the prayer per St. Louis’ method:
Introductory Prayers
Grant that I may please and praise thee, Holy Virgin; give me strength against thy enemies.
Invocation of the Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle within them the fire of Thy love!
Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created.
And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray:
O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit dost instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant us by this same Spirit to relish what is right and ever to rejoice in His consolation, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
